As Told Over Hefeweizen: Sara's First Podcast Appearance

A few weeks ago, I got a message on Twitter asking me to come onto a podcast called Inside the Pallet House. I quickly pro/conned the situation:

Pro's of Going on a Podcast

  • I get to talk about myself
  • I get to talk for hours
  • It'll make a good story (which is how I make almost all my decisions)
  • Meet new people
  • Talk about the blog!

Con's of Going on a Podcast

  • I hate the sound of my own voice
  • I don't know these guys
  • It's in a shed... with three guys I don't know (see bullet point #2)
  • There's probably murder cases that start this way

I did a bit of googling, and the podcast seemed legit enough -- in that it actually exists -- so my chances of murder go down. I decide to go for it, and bring my friend Alix with me (you know, just in case a murder case does break out, I've got reinforcements).

I picked up Alix around 7:45, that way we'd be early, but not too early. As we're driving into a neighborhood that we don't know, I immediately start to get nervous.

However, as soon as we get there, a friendly dog pops out and guides us to the shed, which is in fact not just a shed, but a high-tech bar/shed. The sketch factor is pretty much nonexistent at this point.

We settle in, and soon enough the show starts. Two hours later, I've recorded my first podcast and I'm hyped! I had so much fun recording, which I think you can tell as you listen. We covered everything from Richmond Brunch Weekend to a new biker gang in town and everything in between. Make sure you write-in with your best biker gang name!

Plus, we cover some travel bits, how to pick-up guest speakers (badly), Tinder-ing and the fake (ish) criteria I look for in a man. Oh, and we beer tasted and took a really interesting shot.

Alrighty, without further ado: As Told Over Hefeweizen. Check it out and say it was really good (regardless of what you really thing) so they'll invite us back and I can cringe more while I listen to my cackle laugh.
