As Told Over Hexx Brunch
I went to Las Vegas a few weeks ago, and one of my goals -- other than seeing the Grand Canyon -- was to do a bottomless brunch on Sunday. We did several google searches and wandered up and down the Strip before landing on Hexx, which featured a good view, solid menu and bottomless mimosa option for $23.
Come Sunday morning, I was in desperate need of coffee and not alcohol, but thankfully my sister stepped up to the bottomless plate and did the mimosa option. I felt weak in not following suit, but bedtime was after 5AM and my body was rejecting life already.
The coffee, however, woke me up enough to feel minimally human. I couldn't decide between the corned beef hash or the chilaquiles. The corned beef hash featured corned beef, sweet potato, onions, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The chilaquiles was a plate of tortilla chips smothered with chicken, salsa, eggs, avocado, sour cream and cheese.
I did what I always do and put the final decision on the waitress who told me if I wanted a denser meal to go with the chilaquiles. Since I was feeling like @$$, I thought density would help. Alix decided on the chicken and waffles, Louanne selected the omelet and Jenn went with the ham and egg croissant.
I was happily taking in the perfect weather through the very open layout, as it was pretty much like we were sitting outside while really being inside. Plus, the coffee was bottomless and I was lapping it up.
Once the food came out, I was content with my choice. I didn't know what to expect, but expected breakfast nachos. The waitress was right, it was preeeeetty dense. I wasn't eating fast enough, so the chips got a little soggy. While I enjoyed the flavor and density, I wish there was some sauce. I really like sauce, and there was none of that.
The food around the table looked amazing.
