The Highs and Lows of The Fresh Expo in Charlotte
Foreword by Sara Woznicki:
I'm relatively convinced that my sister only has an Instagram because she wants to enter giveaways. I only know about them since she tags me in them, but I've won twice due in part to Louanne. The second prize I won was a VIP trip to The Fresh Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina. Unfortunately, my travel plans fell through, but former ATOB intern William was thankfully there to fill my place.
I just got back from The Fresh Expo. There were all-natural dog food places, organic juice stands, nutrition stuff, workout supplies and bicycle safety materials for kids. While it was not my typical 'scene', I did get lots of swag and some food. A lot of the booths seemed to be selling herbal, all natural, organic, witch-doctor (kidding -- at least I don't think I met any witches unfortunately) stuff.
I had a Papa New Guinea pour over coffee from the Crane Coffee Company. It was $4, so a bit pricey, but it was a really good coffee. The coffee featured freshly ground coffee beans that were then freshly brewed. It was delicious!
I talked to the pourers at Crane Coffee Company for a bit and apparently they're based out in California. They also said they are going to be selling coffee outside of Cowbell, a restaurant about three blocks from our place. They serve brunch, so I'll need to check it out and report back to everyone about it. Maybe once my forever roommate (my oldest sister) is done with her test, I'll take her over there.
There was limited food options at The Fresh Expo. As in, there were only two food trucks. One was a vegan bean burrito place that I was not at all interested in, since I believe that meat makes the meal. The other was Feed Your Soul, which is touted as a healthy food truck. I had the Chicken Curried Pita Pocket and potato wedges.
The pita pocket was pretty average, but the wedges were the bomb. However, at $11.50 I also thought this meal was overpriced.
I finished up my meal with a Chocolate Sea Salt popsicle from King of Pops. The pop tasted like a fudgesicle, but I still enjoyed it. At $3 I, again, felt it was overpriced. Fun fact, though, King of Pops sells pops in Richmond too.
There was a live band and a stage set up for the guest speaker, but I didn't get a chance to hear the speaker.
