I first heard about Idle Hands Bread Company months ago via a friend who lives right around the corner from the bakery on Strawberry Street. I have to hand it to Idle Hands, they have great branding. Each of their pastries comes in a brown paper bag with their logo, which includes two hands shaking on it.

I don’t remember the exact first time I visited, but I decided I had to try this place out. It’s styled like a café that just opened and may still be renovating with chalkboard menus, a few seats by a sidewalk window that reads “BOULANGERIE,” and a display case full of croissants and Danishes. Don’t worry, I don’t have a sweet tooth always; they also have some savory treats like the bacon and cheddar croissant ($4.25).

Before I dive into another swooning-brunch-review, I have to give a shoutout to my super-cool-super-great Mom.

My Mom is the baddest (Mom, that means “the best”- proof here at UrbanDictionary.com), and she was happy to let me use her Mother's Day as an opportunity to review another restaurant on the Richmond Brunch Weekend list. Thanks, Mom, you really are the best and I love youuuuu.

So, this past Sunday Mom, Dad, and I hit one of my old favorite nightspots to see what it looks like during daytime, which we've never done...unless you count Shamrock festivities (That's right; Mom, Dad, and I have Shamrocked together...), which I don't really because it's essentially a night party with the sun out.

I don't even know where to begin talking about Southern Railway Taphouse...

6 Things You Need for the Perfect Lazy Sunday Funday

When people use the phrase, "Sunday Funday," my mind goes straight to the pitcher -- a cheap mimosa pitcher shared amongst friends/ yourself. It makes me think of that time we accidentally ordered too many pitchers at 3 Monkey's and I ended up adopting my friend's dog for the day instead of just letting her out. Or that time Lauren and I ended up randomly drunk at Buddy's without much of a warning.

Mimosa soaked Sunday's definitely are Funday's, but sometimes nursing that hangover is almost as fun. I'm not talking about the throbbing headache, because that's never fun, but everything that comes with the Sunday hangover is actually pretty great. Think about it, what's more fun than a perfect excuse to lay on your sofa and use your chest as a plate?

I headed up to my hometown a few weeks ago for a nice Christmas break. On Saturday evening, I posed my ever popular question, "Where are we brunching tomorrow?"

My dad, knowing that I basically HAVE to brunch whenever possible did a bit of research in preparation for this question. According to some poll, you just have to brunch at Athena 2 and order the waffles. So we went to Athena 2 to see if it lives up to the hype.
